K has been away at college since the end of August. My current leaser had to stop due to her job. I have a teenager taking lessons on her but Dee says she is not quite ready to lease. Dee does use Dinah to give lessons to students that approach her for them. Li, who use to lease Dinah and own her own horse, comes out and ride Dinah whenever she can. She has been good for a variety of reasons. First, she use to ride Dinah and knows her temperament, she knows Dinah's cues. Second, since Li owned her own horse, she knows all the health issues they can have. The down thing, is the last minute, Li has had to cancel.
My good friend, Tam, is organizing a drill team at the stables. Due to work, I am not able to participate. But, Tam has found a girl to use Dinah. That should be fun.
My plans were that since it is just me going out to see my horse I would have more time. Somehow each week I have work or other plans that have not allowed me to do this. My new years resolution after the holidays is too get out more. All of you will have to hold me to this.
I will post pictures from the drill teams performance at the Christmas Party at the stables.

Minnesota Wild and the power of shot suppression
Minnesota Wild and the power of shot suppression
Wonderful comparison of the team so far this year to last year. Interesting that so far the numbers don't look good but they are winning games. Not last year they did well. Sport players injuries happen frequently and can make the difference.

.Gauging the Mikko Koivu panic level in Minnesota
Gauging the Mikko Koivu panic level in Minnesota
Very compelling article. I feel sorry for him. But people are not perfect and can't have great games forever. New players join teams, others get injured. It is interesting to read how the coach changes the lineup to try to have that work better. Here is to hoping that they can find the niche for each player. I enjoyed reading the writer's perspective of not giving up yet.

College Visits
My husband, my oldest and I have visited A and K at college this Autumn. In September we went to visit A at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. It was a fun time. A showed his sister all around the campus. M went on a small marathon. As A took her on a tour, M saw flyers around the campus and told her brother he should apply there, and there; get involved with that groups and this one; and go to this church. At lunch, the college president sat with us for a while. M left impressed with the college. We went home at the end of the day.
One month later we make the drive all the way to Grand Rapids, Michigan. We saw K the evening we arrived. We were there for two full days. We took K shopping, to get her hair cut, to the apple orchard and to see a movie. It was a good time but there were those moments. By the end, I think that K was remembering why she went far away for college. I was disappointed in it because I didn't get to do anything I wanted to with her. This trip in the beginning was to be just me. My husband didn't feel comfortable with me going by myself. Once M found out we were going and she had that time off due to teacher's conventions, she came with.
I would like to visit K myself something this school year. But that remains to be seen.
A finally got a job at college and has a car. But was fired at the end of his first day of training. We know that the other cashier and manager were in on it. He still is without a job and does not have the motivation to apply. He knows he needs to but it is hard. The song He Knows by Jeremy Camp has been my song the past month. My husband and I saw him in concert (it was great).
I will try to do a couple more blogs but I am entering the holiday season again it work and it is busy and tiring.

What makes you valuable: Jason Pominville
What makes you valuable: Jason Pominville
I enjoyed reading about Pominville and how he uses his seeing the weak side of the opponent and using that to his advantage. Like the writer notes, it is not always about the skill of skating but using your common sense and a little detective mind. Way to go Jason.

What makes you valuable: Jared Spurgeon, man on the rush

Wow. It is nice to read about a player that plays with his brain and not his emotion. This player is simple and level-headed. He goes to where he is needed. I love having the pictures to see what exactly the writer is talking about. Another great article by this writer.
