Summer 2014

As I sit here and write this, I am enjoying a cool even after rain the day before.  I just lover the smell of rain and the sound of it.  As a child I would go outside and play in the puddles along with the other children.  Though most of them were boys.  I was never your typical girl and not your typical lady.

It has been a busy summer.  After K's graduation party, we had Independence Day.  We didn't do much as it was kind of warm.  We spend most of July doing yard work after the wet spring.  We did take a trip to Michigan for K's college orientation.  One full day out, a full day of meetings and than one full day back.

As the summer progressed, we realized that we should start looking for another leaser for Dinah.  Our current one is great, but only comes out two days a week.  When K's is away at college, I will still be working.  That leaves Dinah to just stand in the pasture and then her stall.  So we started the process once again.  It has been a interesting one again.  That I will save for another post to continue our blessing others with our horses.

My mother-in-law has kept my husband busy with her falls and health.  My oldest was involved in a auto accident with her car being totally destroyed.  She had to buy another one.  Her current employer doesn't really offer advancement opportunities or raises.  M has decided she probably will have to go back and get her Master's.  Her boyfriend, A is still writing but no job.  He will be going back to college.

Luckily my mom has been great.  I don't know how she does it at 88.

Our son never did get a job.  I pray he gets one at college this coming school year.  He sure did try with over 20 applications filled out.  His main problem was that he was there for only the summer.

I still am working at Target with about 20 hours a week.  The culture at my store is getting worse.  I can't wait until I can retire.

This has been a summer of a few close friends being diagnosed with some form of cancer.  The main one is lymphoma.  I pray for each one of them to be healed.  I know it can be done as my mom is a example and my mother-in-law.

I hope you all are enjoying your summers.  Autumn is just right around the corner.  I look forward to posting more about what it is liking having no children in the house during the school year.  That's all for now.
