Blessing Other With our Horses

Our leaser Sally sends me an email, not a phone call because I am working, that she wants to buy a horse she went to see with a friend.  The horse would not come to the stables until she is finished with her lease with Dinah.

Two emotions ran through my head.  First, What?!?!?  I thought she was going to get a horse for herself after our family moves to a hobby farm.  Also, she didn't ask me to go with or help her find one?  How many horses had she been looking at?  Sally was going to take care of Dinah while we were on vacation.  The second, Finally she can make the mistakes with her own horse and not ours.

I called Sally and talked to her.  I wanted to know how much she knew about this horse.  When she was going to look at other horses, you can't go with your first time.  I explained how she should get a pre-purchase exam and if she wanted any horse on our farm, then I needed to try that horse also.  Sally agreed all of this needed to be done.

The next day I spent advertising Dinah for lease.  As of this day, I still don't have any one.

I believe about a week later, Sally went down with our instructor Dee to meet this horse.  Dee liked it, said they were asking a fair price; but this horse would make Sally really be more confident and in control.  This horse was not as easy going as Dinah.

Sally emailed me to tell me she had bought this horse.  Sally was not going to even go look at another, not let me come ride or get an exam.  I decided I had to let it be and just move on.  I wanted Sally to keep her money but she said no she wanted to stay with Dinah till the end.

As time went on, Sally rode Dinah less and less.  Yes we have had a cold winter; but when it was nice out she still chose not to.  Sally even starting buying the things for this horse.  She said we would go shopping together.  Because of all this money, Sally stopped buying things for Dinah.  My daughter K and I knew that Sally had checked out with Dinah.  It was understandable, but we didn't want this for Dinah.

I was praying I would find someone  before her horse came.  We had close ones but never came through.  For some reason, we never got one.  I am not sure why.

Sally is turning into the new horse owner that we don't really like.  People at the stables have even talked about her.  During this process though, Sally said that I have taught her so much about finding a horse, getting ready and what it is like to have one.  She even said that I was patient and never made her feel bad.
