Part Three of Blessing others with our horses

In the last post, I talked about getting our second horse.  I left off with a high school girl that started leasing Dinah and it went for two years.

Em, who was a junior in high school, started leasing Dinah.  She lived with her Grandma and a sister.  Em's parents divorced when she was young.  Neither parent could afford to take care of her and her sister.  The two of them went to live with their one grandma.  Once her parents were remarried and financially able to take care of them, the sisters wanted to stay with their grandma.  It made sense since that was the stability in their life.

Em had leased horses in the past.  I trusted her with Dinah.  I needed that after some of the previous leasers.  During the summer, Em would take Dinah to horse shows and ride her doing gaming events.  They did pretty good.  After school and working, spending time with Dinah was a stress reliever for her.  It brought happiness to her life.  I was so happy that this young girl had a place to go and relax.  I couldn't imagine what her home life was like.  Her grandmother was a wonderful lady, but it had to be hard dealing with two step-parents.  I truly believed that Dinah helped Em during the tough high school years and different type of family life.

After Em started going to college and working, she found that she didn't have the time nor the money anymore.  She ended the lease.  I was okay with that.  She had been the longest and Dinah's best friend.  I knew this time would come.  After a few months, Em came back but for just a couple of months.  She loved and still loves  Dinah so much.

Since her, I have had a few more.  One was married to the nephew of a very good friend from our church.  The uncle was hoping by this lady leasing, that this couple would start going to church and having a real relationship with God.  The lease ended after a few months, the lady decided she loved horses so much she got her own.  In addition, she was wanting to become pregnant.

I then got a email from a lady that wanted to lease a horse.  She had been volunteering at a therapeutic riding center.  The place was closing down and she wanted to continue to be around horses.  After her stressful days at work, her difficult marriage; horses brought her healing and peace.

We met one day and to my amazement I found out she had no knowledge of riding, horse tack or really even grooming a horse.  I got her in touch with our trainer/instructor from our previous boarding facility.

The next post will be about the journey of this lady taking weekly lessons on our horse.  The goal would be to knowledgeable about caring for horses and riding to lease.

Stay tuned for the next part of this lady and my adventure.
